MMDA suspends expanded number coding scheme on Sept. 26 due to Karding
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Sunday that the expanded number coding scheme has been suspended on Monday, September 26, due to Super Typhoon Karding.
The MMDA made the announcement as directed by acting chairman Carlo Dimayuga III in anticipation of bad weather brought by the effects of the super typhoon.
As of 11 a.m., state weather bureau PAGASA has placed Metro Manila under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3.
Under such conditions, storm-force winds could bring moderate to significant threat to life and property within the next 18 hours.
Karding’s center was last spotted 175 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon with maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 240 km/h, and central pressure of 920 hPa. It is moving westward at 20 km/h.
It also has strong to typhoon-force winds extending outwards up to 290 km from the center. —Mel Matthew Doctor/KG, GMA News
