'Libreng sakay' on shuttle for LRT1 passengers from EDSA to Aseana starts

The "libreng sakay" free shuttle service for Light Rail Transit-Line 1 (LRT1) passengers from EDSA station to Manila Bay Aseana in Parañaque started on Wednesday, March 30, and will run until April 17, according to a report by Darlene Cay on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The shuttle service will be offered via the City Optimized Managed Electric Transport (COMET) mini-buses.

These vehicles are air-conditioned and have zero emission, and can accommodate up to 30 passengers per trip.

For its pilot implementation, the shuttle service via the COMET mini-buses will run from LRT1 EDSA station to Manila Bay Aseana.

During the second phase, the shuttle service will be extended up to Makati central business district.

The free shuttle service will be offered to LRT1 Riders' Club members.

Passengers just need to download a GET-Pass app and sign up to be a member of the LRT1 Riders' Club.

Club members enjoy a regular rate of P50 for a one-day pass, P150 for a one-week pass, and P500 for a month-long pass.

Commuters welcomed the free shuttle service and said it is a big help for them.

The shuttle service will operate from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. —KG, GMA News
