PAL cancels some flights from Manila to US, Canada scheduled on June 10-12, 2020
Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Tuesday said it is canceling some flights from Manila to US and Canada and back scheduled on June 10 to 12, 2020.
These flights are:
June 10:
- PR102/103: Manila-Los Angeles-Manila
- PR104/105: Manila-San Francisco-Manila
- PR116/117: Manila-Vancouver-Manila
June 11:
- PR126: Manila-NewYork JFK
June 12:
- PR127: New York JFK-Manila
In a Facebook post, PAL said Philippine authorities were not able to give the airline allocation for international arrival slots at Ninoy Aquino International Airport "because of unavoidable constraints in quarantine processing capacity in Manila."
PAL said it is planning to operate the following flights departing on June 11:
- PR102: Manila-Los Angeles
- PR 103: Los Angeles-Cebu (in lieu of Manila); arrival date in Cebu is June 13
However, the airline said it is still working on arrangements to have PR103 land in Cebu.
PAL advised passengers booked on PR103 that they will be required to undergo mandatory COVID-19 testing in Cebu.
They will also be quarantined in Cebu at a hotel accredited by the Department of Health while awaiting their negative test result expected to be released within 24 to 48 hours.
Those who test negative for COVID-19 will be flown from Cebu to Manila by PAL for free.
Passengers however will have to pay for the COVID-19 test and the quarantine hotel stay, "whether the tests and quarantine take place in Cebu or Manila," PAL said.
The airline appealed for understanding due to the developments which were not under its control.
PAL also said further changes to flight schedules including cancellations may occur "based on continually evolving controls, restrictions and entry requirements set by the concerned government authorities, who are focused primarily on promoting and protecting public health during these critical times." —KG, GMA News
