The temporary ramp was opened to traffic by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
"Northbound traffic will now have up to five lanes during rush hour with the new ramp and the reopening of the third at-grade lane," said DPWH Secretary Mark Villar.
San Miguel Corp. (SMC) on Sunday also reopened the third at-grade lane of the Skyway, which is expected to improve the traffic situation in the area.
"I know that our motorists from the south—Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas—have a hard time these past two months," SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon Ang said in a separate statement.
San Miguel Corp. is the parent firm of SLEx operator San Miguel Tollways Corp. and Skyway O&M Corp., the unit in charge of the Skyway extension project.
The Skyway Extension project is a P10-billion initiative which will extend the Skyway from Alabang to the SLEx near Susana Heights, and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX).
"Again, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this project has caused. Starting today, motorists from SLEx will have up to five lanes northbound during rush hours. This is already a big improvement from just three lanes at the viaduct, before the start of construction," added Ang.
The Skyway extension works prompted the closure of SLEX lane 3—causing further congestion on the expressway. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/KG, GMA News
