Parts of Marcos Highway closed at certain hours for LRT2 East Extension Project
With the construction of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 East Extension Project in full swing, some lanes of Marcos Highway will be closed to traffic at certain hours, according to a report on Unang Balita on Monday by Bam Alegre.
On Sundays to Thursdays, some of the westbound and eastbound lanes will be alternately closed to traffic from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
On Fridays, some of the lanes will be closed from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Meanwhile, on Saturdays, some of the lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The closure of the lanes will allow heavy equipment to pass through. Authorities will close the westbound and eastbound lanes alternately depending on which lanes the heavy equipment will use.
On Sunday, two of the five lanes of Marcos Highway westbound were closed.
Traffic is usually heavy in the area during the daytime, making it difficult to close some lanes then.
About 116,000 vehicles use Marcos Highway daily.
For alternate routes, motorists may use Sumulong Highway, Ortigas Avenue Extension, Marikina, and Sta. Lucia. —KG, GMA News
