NGCP: 5 transmission lines down in Eastern Visayas, CARAGA amid Tino wrath
Five transmission lines in Eastern Visayas and CARAGA are currently down as of 5 a.m. Tuesday as Typhoon Tino battered the said areas with typhoon-force winds and heavy rains, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said.
In an updated post on its Facebook page, the NGCP said the unavailable transmission lines are in Leyte, Southern Leyte, and CARAGA.
The Maasin-Baybay 69kV Line went out at 10:35 p.m. Monday, affecting the Leyte IV Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO IV).
The Ormoc-San Isidro 69kV line became unavailable at 10:19 p.m. Monday, affecting the Don Orestes Romualdez Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DORELCO), Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SOLECO), Leyte III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO III), and Leyte V Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO V).
The Ormoc-Baybay 69kV line became unavailable at 11:29 p.m. Monday, affecting LEYECO IV and LEYECO V.
The Maasin-San Isidro 69kV Line went out at 9:42 p.m. Monday, affecting the SOLECO.
Meanwhile, the Placer-Madrid 69kV line, which caters to the Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative Inc. (SURNECO), Siargao Electric Cooperative Inc. (SIARELCO), and the Surigao del Sur II Electric Cooperative Inc. (SURSECO II), went out at 10:20 p.m. Monday.
A 138kV line and a 350kV line are also currently unavailable, the NGCP added.
“NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is currently conducting patrols. Simultaneous restoration activities are also being conducted in areas already accessible,” the NGCP advisory said.
It added that loss of power may be caused by affected NGCP transmission facilities or distribution facilities of local distribution utilities or electric cooperativess.
The NGCP said specific cities and municipalities affected by power interruptions are determined by the concerned distribution utilities, unless the outage affects the entire franchise area. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
