16 areas under ‘danger level’ heat index on Wednesday, April 9, 2025

A “danger level” heat index is projected to hit 16 areas around the country on Wednesday, PAGASA said in its daily forecast.

Based on its 5 p.m. April 8 bulletin, the state weather bureau said Dagupan City, Pangasinan could experience a high of 44°C.

Meanwhile, a heat index as high as 43°C is expected at Sangley Point, Cavite City; Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

PAGASA also said the following areas could reach a 42°C heat index:

  • ISU Echague, Isabela
  • Iba Zambales
  • Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo City
  • San Ildefonso, Bulacan
  • TAU Camiling, Tarlac
  • Cuyo, Palawan
  • Roxas City, Capiz
  • Iloilo City
  • Panglao International Airport, Bohol
  • Catarman, Northern Samar
  • Dipolog, Zamboanga del Sur

 

 

In Metro Manila, a 41°C temperature is expected to hit NAIA Pasay City while Science Garden, Quezon City could reach temperature as high as 40°C.

PAGASA categorizes areas with a 42°C to 51°C heat index under the danger category, while areas with 33°C to 41°C fall under the “extreme caution” category.

Heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible in areas under extreme caution, while heat stroke is a potential risk under the danger level.

PAGASA advises the public to limit outdoor activity, remain hydrated, and wear fresh clothes to avoid heat-related illnesses. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
