PAGASA terminates La Niña alert

State weather bureau, PAGASA, on Friday announced the termination of the La Niña alert in the country as normal rainfall conditions are expected soon.

“Recent DOST-PAGASA’s climate monitoring and analyses show that La Niña conditions are no longer present in the central and equatorial Pacific (CEEP),” PAGASA said in a statement.

“The sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTAs) reached ENSO-neutral levels. La Niña-like patterns of above normal rainfall in some parts of Luzon, most parts of Bicol, eastern Visayas and northeastern Mindanao are not likely to linger, as noted in the forecasts,” the agency added.

With the recent development, the state weather bureau said that El Niño or La Niña conditions are not observed or expected to develop in the tropical Pacific within the next three months.

PAGASA also said that ENSO-neutral conditions is favored until the September-October-November 2025 season.

On the other hand, PAGASA advised the public to continue observing precautionary measures amid the ongoing warm and dry season. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
