'Danger level' heat index expected in 3 Luzon areas on April 2, 2025
A “danger level” heat index is expected in three Luzon areas on Wednesday, PAGASA said in a forecast on Tuesday.
A temperature between 42°C and 51°C is in the “danger” category, posing health risks such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
Based on its 5 p.m. April 1 bulletin, the state weather bureau said Dagupan City, Pangasinan, may reach a heat index of 43°C.
A heat index of 42°C is expected in Iba, Zambales, and Virac (Synop), Catanduanes.
In Metro Manila, NAIA Pasay City will see a heat index of 40°C, while Science Garden Quezon City will experience 36°C.
A heat index from 33°C to 41°C is in the “extreme caution” category, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible, and continuing activity could lead to heat stroke.
On Tuesday, the following areas experienced a heat index in the danger level:
Virac (Synop), Catanduanes: 45°C
CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur: 43°C
Iba, Zambales: 42°C
