6 areas expected to hit ‘danger level’ heat index on March 27, 2025
Six areas across the country are expected to have a "danger level" heat index on Thursday, according to PAGASA.
A heat index between 42°C and 51°C is considered a “danger” category, posing health risks such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
According to PAGASA, Dagupan City, Pangasinan is expected to experience a temperature as high as 47°C.
Meanwhile, the following areas could reach up to 43°C heat:
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
- Virac (Synop), Catanduanes
- CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur
- Butuan City, Agusan del Norte
Legazpi, Albay is also expected to experience a 42°C heat index.
The heat index measures how hot it feels to the human body, factoring in humidity along with the actual air temperature.
In Metro Manila, NAIA Pasay City will see a heat index of 40°C, while Science Garden Quezon City will experience 38°C.
A heat index from 33°C to 41°C is under the “extreme caution” category, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible, and continuing activity could lead to heat stroke.
Earlier today, PAGASA marked the beginning of the dry season as it announced that the Northeast Monsoon has ended over most parts of the country.
With this development, the day-to-day weather across the country will gradually become warmer, though isolated thunderstorms are also likely to occur,” PAGASA said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
