Heat index: No areas in 'danger level’ category on March 24, 2025

No areas in the country are likely to experience a “danger level” heat index on Monday, March 24, 2025, PAGASA said Sunday.

A heat index between 42°C and 51°C is considered in the danger category, posing health risks such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

Based on its 5 p.m. March 10 bulletin, the state weather bureau said the highest heat index expected in the country on Monday will be 39°C, which will be felt in Coron, Palawan and Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur.

Meanwhile, a 37°C heat index is expected to be measured by the NAIA Pasay City station while the Science Garden, Quezon City could measure a heat index of 32°C.

A heat index from 33°C to 41°C is under the “extreme caution” category, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible, and continuing activity could lead to heat stroke.

The heat index measures how hot it feels to the human body, factoring in humidity along with the actual air temperature.

The state weather bureau has urged the public to limit outdoor activity, remain hydrated, and wear fresh clothes to avoid heat-related illnesses. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
