Shear line, Amihan to bring rains over Luzon

The shear line and Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will affect several parts of Luzon, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

In its weather forecast on Sunday afternoon, the state weather bureau said the Cordillera Administrative Region, Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will persist over the Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi due to the easterlies.

These moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the Amihan.

The shearline will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region.

The same weather conditions will be observed over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the easterlies.

These severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods or landslides.

State meteorologists also said extreme Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Luzon will experience moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

Meanwhile, winds will be light to moderate and coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be 6:07 a.m. on Monday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
