Shear line, Amihan to bring clouds, rains over parts of Luzon

Shear line, Amihan to bring clouds, rains over parts of Luzon

Parts of Luzon are being affected by a shear line and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) on Sunday, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

The Bicol Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Rizal, Laguna, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line, which is where the Northeast Monsoon and the easterlies meet.

These areas may possibly have flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon, but no significant impact is seen.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon except Palawan meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the shear line. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

The easterlies, or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, on the other hand, are affecting the rest of the country.

The Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Northern and Central Luzon, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
