Easterlies, Amihan to bring rains, cloudy skies over parts of PH

The Easterlies will bring rains over Palawan and Mindanao while the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will affect the rest of Luzon in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Monday afternoon.

In its weather forecast, the state weather bureau said Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

These conditions may result in moderate to at times heavy rains that could trigger flash floods or landslides.

Cloudy skies with rains will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, the rest of MIMAROPA, Bulacan, and Quezon due to the Amihan.

These moderate to heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.

The Amihan will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and the rest of Luzon, with no significant weather impact expected.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be observed throughout the rest of the country due to the easterlies.

Residents of affected areas were warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

State meteorologists also said winds will be strong to gale while coastal waters will be rough to very rough in Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.

The rest of Luzon and Visayas will see moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

Winds will be light to moderate while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
