Amihan, shear line to keep bringing rains over Luzon

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and the shear line will continue to bring rains over Luzon in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said on Sunday afternoon.

In its weather forecast, the state weather bureau said Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region will experience cloudy skies with rains due to the Amihan.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will persist over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Quezon, and Aurora due to the shear line.

Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

These moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides.

Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to the Amihan, with no significant weather impact expected.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be observed over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to localized thunderstorms.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will also prevail over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao due to ITCZ.

These conditions may result in severe thunderstorms that could trigger flash floods or landslides.

State meteorologists also said winds and coastal waters will be strong in the eastern section of Luzon.

Meanwhile, the eastern section of Visayas will experience moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

Winds will be light to moderate while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.
