PAGASA: Colder days seen from January to February

Filipinos may feel colder weather in the days ahead as the cold wind from the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan strengthens, according to a "24 Oras" weather report on Thursday.

Data from PAGASA said that the peak of cold weather in the Philippines, particularly in Luzon, often lasts from January up to February.

In Metra Weather’s Wind Forecast Map, wind from the Northeast Monsoon may become prevalent over the next few days.

The lowest temperature recorded in Philippine history was 6.3°C in Baguio City on January 18, 1961.

Meanwhile, the presence of the Northeast Monsoon and the easterlies continue to form a Shear Line that brings rainfall over several parts of the country.

PAGASA also said that the Quadrantid Meteor Shower may be seen in some parts of the country.

The shower may show more than 100 meteors per hour, while the best view would be available before 5 a.m. Friday. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
