Rains seen over parts of PH on New Year's Eve, Day


 Several weather systems may cause rainy skies during the final day of the year and the first day of 2025.

According to PAGASA’s special weather outlook for 2025, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region due to the Shear Line on December 31.

Cloudy skies with light rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), while partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over the Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon due to the Northeast Monsoon or AMihan.

Visayas, Caraga, and MIMAROPA will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms because of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized rain showers or thunderstorms.

On January 1,  cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will be felt over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region due to the Shear Line.

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will cause cloudy skies with light rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the rest of Cagayan Valley, and partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region.

The Visayas and Caraga will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized rain showers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, strong to gale-force winds with rough to very rough seas may be expected over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon.

Moderate to strong winds may be felt over the western section of Luzon and the eastern section of the country, while the rest of the country may have light to moderate winds.
