PAGASA: Scattered rain, isolated showers seen on New Year's Eve 2024
The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), a shear line, and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) are expected to bring rains over several parts of the country in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Monday afternoon.
In its latest weather forecast, the state weather bureau said mainland Cagayan and Isabela will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
The easterlies will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Aurora.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will also prevail over Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, Davao Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Palawan due to the ITCZ.
These moderate to heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.
The Amihan is expected to bring cloudy skies with rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
These moderate to at time heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides.
Ilocos Region will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to the Amihan, with no significant weather impact expected.
The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will also be observed over the rest of Minadao due to the ITCZ.
PAGASA warned residents in affected areas of potential flash floods or landslides due to severe thunderstorms.
State meteorologists also said winds will be strong while coastal waters will be rough in Northern Luzon.
The rest of Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas will see moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.
Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.
