Rains to prevail on Rizal Day due to shear line, ITCZ, Amihan

A shear line, Intertropical Convergence Zone, and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will bring rains over several areas on Monday, Rizal Day, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line affecting the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result due to moderate to heavy rains.

Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, the rest of MIMAROPA, the rest of Bicol Region, Caraga, Davao Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. Moderate to heavy rains may possibly cause flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon is affecting Northern Luzon and the rest of Central Luzon.

The Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with rains due to the Amihan. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

The Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the monsoon, but with no significant impact seen.

Metro Manila and the rest of Calabarzon will be affected by the shear line and will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly occur.

The rest of Mindanao on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result during severe thunderstorms.

As per PAGASA's heavy rainfall outlook issued at 5 a.m., moderate to heavy rains measuring 50 to 100 mm are forecast for Monday in the following areas due to the shear line and ITCZ:

• Apayao
• Isabela
• Aurora
• Quezon
• Camarines Norte
• Palawan
• Sorsogon,
• Northern Samar
• Samar
• Eastern Samar
• Biliran
• Leyte
• Southern Leyte
• Zamboanga del Norte
• Negros Oriental
• Siquijor
• Dinagat Islands

Coastal waters will be rough in Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

The rest of Luzon will have moderate to rough coastal waters, while it will be slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
