Shear line, ITCZ, Amihan to bring rains over several areas

Parts of the country will have rains on Sunday due to a shear line, an Intertropical Convergence Zone, and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), according to PAGASA's weather forecast.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Aurora, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line affecting the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon. Flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate to heavy rains.

Visayas, the rest of Mimaropa, the rest of Bicol Region, Zamboanga del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. Moderate to heavy rains may possibly cause flash floods or landslides.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the ITCZ. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly occur.

According to PAGASA's heavy rainfall outlook, heavy to intense rains measuring from 100 to 200 mm may be expected in Cagayan and Isabela.

Moderate to heavy rains measuring 50 to 100 mm on the other hand are forecast for Apayao, Kalinga, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Palawan, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte today.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region may have cloudy skies with rains due to the Northeast Monsoon, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon is also being affected by the Northeast Monsoon, and will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. No significant impact, however, is expected.

Coastal waters will be rough to very rough in Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon, and moderate to rough in the rest of Luzon.

The rest of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters.
