Up to intense rains expected over Luzon, Visayas areas on Christmas week — PAGASA
The shear line is expected to bring up to intense rains over some parts of Luzon and the Visayas this Christmas week, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Tuesday.
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the following weather conditions may prevail over shear line- affected areas from Tuesday to Friday:
Tuesday to Wednesday noon:
- Heavy to intense rainfall (100 to 200 millimeters) - Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Catanduanes
- Moderate to heavy rainfall (50 to 100 mm) - Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar
Wednesday noon to Thursday noon
- Heavy to intense rainfall - Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes
- Moderate to heavy rainfall - Isabela, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar
Thursday noon to Friday noon
- Heavy to intense rainfall - Aurora and Quezon
- Moderate to heavy rainfall - Cagayan, Isabela, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes
PAGASA noted that forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas and that impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall.
“The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property,” PAGASA said.
“PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue Heavy Rainfall Warnings, Rainfall/Thunderstorm Advisories, and other severe weather information specific to their areas of responsibility as appropriate,” it added. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
