Shear line, Amihan to bring rains over Luzon

The Shear line will bring rains over Southern Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will affect the rest of Luzon in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Monday afternoon.

In its forecast, the state weather bureau said the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Capiz, and Aklan.

These moderate to heavy with at times intense rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Bulacan, and Nueva Ecija will experience cloudy skies with rains due to Amihan.

Residents of affected areas were warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to Amihan. PAGASA said these weather conditions would have no significant impact.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will observe partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

These severe thunderstorms could cause flash floods or landslides.

PAGASA earlier said the tropical cyclone, formerly known as Tropical Depression Romina, is no longer affecting the Kalayaan Islands in Palawan.

At 3 p.m., Romina was located 165 kilometers west of Kalayaan, Palawan, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It was moving southward slowly.

State meteorologists also said winds will be strong to gale while coastal waters will be rough to very rough in Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and the northeastern section of Mindanao will experience moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

Winds will be light to moderate while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of Mindanao.

Sunrise will be at 6:17 a.m. on Tuesday. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
