Romina moves slowly away, no longer affecting Kalayaan Islands

Tropical Depression Romina is moving northwestward slowly away on Monday morning and is no longer affecting Kalayaan Islands in Palawan, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

At 4 a.m., Romina's center was estimated to be located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 165 km west of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan.

Romina is moving northwestward at a speed of 10 km/h, having maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 1002 hPa.

From its center, strong winds are extending outwards up to 200 km.

The Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 raised over Kalayaan Islands on Sunday has been lifted.

However, Romina's trough will still affect Palawan, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, a shear line is affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas, while the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is affecting the rest of Luzon.

Visayas, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and the rest of Mimaropa may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains.

According to PAGASA's heavy rainfall outlook, Northern Samar will have heavy to intense rains measuring from 100 to 200 mm on Monday.

Moderate to heavy rains from 50 to 100 mm meanwhile were forecast for Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo on Monday.

Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Bulacan, and Nueva Ecija will have cloudy skies with rains due to the Amihan. Moderate to at times heavy rains may result in flash floods or landslides.

The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the monsoon, but with no significant impact.

Mindanao on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

Coastal waters will be rough to very rough in Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and the northeastern section of Mindanao will have moderate to rough coastal waters, while the rest of Mindanao will enjoy slight to moderate coastal waters.
