LPA that was Querubin has chance to become a storm anew

LPA that was Querubin has chance to become a storm anew

The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility that used to be Tropical Depression Querubin still has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Thursday afternoon.

At 2 p.m. the LPA was observed 125 kilometers east northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

Querubin weakened into an LPA on Wednesday evening.

In its forecast, the state weather bureau said the shear line will bring rains over the eastern section of Southern Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will affect the rest of Luzon.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over eastern Visayas and Caraga.

The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of LPA.

These moderate to heavy with at times intense rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, the shear line will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

Residents of affected areas were warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

The Amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to Amihan.

PAGASA said these weather conditions would have no significant impact.

Winds will be strong to gale while coastal waters will be rough to very rough in the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, the eastern section of the country will experience moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

Winds will be light to moderate while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.

Sunrise will be at 6:15 a.m. on Friday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
