PAGASA: 3 weather systems continue to bring cloudy skies, rains over PH

The Shear Line and the Northeast Monsoon will cause cloudy skies and rains over several parts of Luzon, while the easterlies affect the rest of the country.

According to PAGASA’s daily weather forecast on Wednesday afternoon, Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the Shear Line.

The Northeast Monsoon or Amihan will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon.

The easterlies will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Central Visayas, Negros Oriental, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Possible flash floods and landslides may occur over several parts of the country as a result of said weather conditions.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough sea may be expected over Luzon, the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao, while the rest of the country will feel light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 6:11 a.m. on Thursday.

In a Tropical Cyclone Threat Potential Forecast issued on Monday, PAGASA also said that a typhoon may develop and enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the period December 16 to 22.

As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, there were no existing Low Pressure Areas currently being monitored for typhoon formation within the PAR. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
