Pepito exits PAR — PAGASA

Pepito exits Philippine area of responsibility — PAGASA

Severe Tropical Storm Pepito has left the Philippines Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said Monday afternoon.

“At 12:00 p.m. today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm Pepito exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility,” the state weather bureau said in a Facebook post.

In an advisory, PAGASA said Pepito is no longer directly affecting the country.

According to its 5 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA said Pepito has maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.

At 4 p.m., Pepito was observed 410 km west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte outside PAR and moving west northwestward at 20kph.

PAGASA had said Pepito will continue to weaken as it moves over the West Philippine Sea due to the incoming northeasterly wind surge, creating an unfavorable environment, and may become a remnant low on Wednesday.

In its weather forecast, PAGASA said the shear line is affecting the extreme northern Luzon in the next 24 hours.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected over the Babuyan Islands.

Meanwhile, Batanes may see cloudy skies with rains due to the northeasterly surface windflow.

These moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger possible flash floods and landslides.

The eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

The localized thunderstorms may cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Residents of affected areas were warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

State meteorologists also said the extreme Northern Luzon may experience strong to gale wind conditions and rough to very rough coastal conditions.

Northern and Central Luzon may see moderate to strong wind conditions and rough coastal conditions.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country may see light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

Sunrise on Tuesday will be at 5:58 a.m.—Mariel Celine Serquiña/AOL, GMA Integrated News
