LPA inside PAR intensified and is now Tropical Depression Nika

The low pressure area (LPA) which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) before dawn on Saturday has intensified and is now a tropical depression which PAGASA has named Nika.

"At 8:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area east of  Southern Luzon developed into Tropical Depression #NikaPH," PAGASA said in a Facebook post.

The state weather bureau will issue bulletins about Nika starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The LPA entered PAR at 2 a.m. on Saturday.

It was last located at 1,170 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon. —KG, GMA Integrated News
