LPA spotted near Philippine area of responsibility —PAGASA

LPA spotted near Philippine area of responsibility —PAGASA

A low pressure area was spotted near the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Friday morning, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

Based on its tropical cyclone formation outlook at 10 a.m., PAGASA said the LPA was located 1,830 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon.

“The Low Pressure Area (LPA 11b) has a LOW chance of developing into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours. Everyone is advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA,” PAGASA said on Facebook.

However, PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said the possibility of the LPA intensifying into a tropical depression in the next few days is not ruled out.

“Inaasahan natin na ngayong gabi o bukas po ay posible na rin itong pumasok sa ating area of responsibility,” Jorda said at a press briefing.

(We expect that tonight or tomorrow it may enter our area of responsibility.)

“In the coming days, kahit LPA o maging bagyo man po ito, ay posible po itong magdulot ng mga pag-ulan lalo na rito sa may eastern section ng Luzon area,” she added.

(In the coming days, the LPA or tropical cyclone may cause rains here in the eastern section of the Luzon area.)

The LPA was monitored while Typhoon Marce was moving over the West Philippine Sea and is expected to exit PAR on Friday afternoon or evening.—AOL/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
