PAGASA sees break from tropical cyclones for 2 weeks
The chances of another tropical cyclone developing in the country over the next two weeks are small, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.
This developed after two strong cyclones hit the country one after the other.
“Mababa ang tyansa na may mabuong bagyo sa loob ng dalawang linggo. Dahil dito, nakababa ang TC Threat Potential sa loob ng forecast period,” PAGASA stated in its tropical cyclone (TC) threat potential forecast on Friday afternoon.
From November 1 to 7, state meteorologists reported that there was “no TC-like vortex (TCLV) present inside the PAR.”
“Model forecasts suggest that a TCLV will likely emerge over the eastern boundaries of the PAR, with TCID having a low chance of TC development,” PAGASA said.
For the week of November 8 to 14, PAGASA said that the formation of a TCLV “remains possible over the eastern boundary of the PMD (PAGASA monitoring domain), but with a low likelihood of TC genesis.”
“Therefore, the TC-Threat Potential is unlikely over the next two weeks,” the state weather bureau reported.
Most parts of the country are still reeling from the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Typhoon Leon. Both storms have reportedly claimed 150 lives.
However, PAGASA earlier said that one to two tropical cyclones may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the month, as storms typically make landfall in November. —NB, GMA Integrated News
