PAGASA: Up to 2 tropical cyclones may enter PAR in November
One to two tropical cyclones may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in November, according to state weather bureau PAGASA on Friday.
In a 4 a.m. public weather forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said that based on the records since 1948, previous tropical cyclones usually made landfall during November.
He also said that the tropical cyclones that may enter PAR this month could also reach the typhoon or even super typhoon category.
“Madalas na ito'y nagla-landfall na yung mga bagyo tuwing buwan ng Nobyembre sa Luzon, Visayas, hanggang dito po sa may Caraga Region at lumiliit na lang po yung chance na lumihis ito ng direksyon o nagre-recurve dito sa may Philippine Sea,” Estareja said.
(The tropical cyclones often make landfall every November in Luzon, Visayas up to here in the Caraga Region and the chance of changing direction or recurving here in the Philippine Sea is getting smaller.)
“For the month of November, in terms of intensity, posible pa rin magkaroon tayo ng mga typhoon and super typhoon. And in particular for this year, isa hanggang dalawang bagyo po ang pwede pumasok ng ating PAR,” he added.
(For the month of November, in terms of intensity, it is still possible for us to have typhoons and super typhoons. And in particular for this year, one to two tropical cyclones may enter our PAR.)
These tropical cyclones will be named Marce and Nika. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
