Track and intensity outlook

Kristine is forecast to move generally northwestward for the next 24 hours before turning generally westward for the rest of the forecast period, PAGASA said.

It is expected to make landfall over Isabela or northern Aurora Wednesday evening or Thursday early morning. It will then cross the mountainous terrain of Northern Luzon and emerge over the waters west of Ilocos Region Thursday afternoon and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) region on Friday.

The tropical storm is forecast to gradually intensify into a severe tropical storm before making landfall. Slight weakening will occur while crossing Northern Luzon and re-intensification may occur over the West Philippine Sea, according to PAGASA.

Malacañang on Tuesday evening announced the suspension of government work and classes in all levels in the entire Luzon on Wednesday in anticipation of the effects of Tropical Storm Kristine.

Some areas also suspended classes on Wednesday.

Airline companies also announced the cancellation of some flights scheduled on Wednesday due to bad weather. —LDF/KG, GMA Integrated News
