PAGASA: LPA near PAR could develop into tropical depression in 24 hours

There is a high chance a low pressure area expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility will develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

In its forecast, PAGASA said the trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) will bring rain over the country in the next 24 hours.

Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Palawan, Aurora, and Quezon could expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA trough.

Residents in the affected areas are warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The LPA trough will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

These severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods and landslides in the affected areas.

State meteorologists said Northern and Central Luzon and the eastern section of Southern Luzon may experience moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

Meanwhile, light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions may occur over the rest of the country.

Sunrise will be at 5:48 a.m. on Monday.  —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
