PAGASA: Low to moderate chance of tropical cyclones forming in 2 weeks

There is a low to moderate chance that a tropical cyclone (TC) would form in the PAGASA monitoring domain (PMD) in two weeks, the state weather bureau said Monday.

PAGASA said no TC-like vortex (LV) is currently present in the PMD.

However, the agency said TCLV 1 may develop over the eastern boundaries of Tropical Cyclone Information Domain (TCID) and Tropical Cyclone Advisory Domain(TCAD) from Oct. 14 to 20.

It has a “low to moderate likelihood” of developing into a tropical cyclone.

Tropical cyclones present inside the TCID are of least concern for the forecasters but are necessary enough for monitoring and public awareness purposes.

Meanwhile, tropical cyclones within the TCAD are too far away to have any direct effect on the country but are close enough for closer monitoring.

State meteorologists also spotted two TCLVs that may develop between Oct. 14 and 20.

“TCLV 2 will likely develop over the eastern boundary of the TCAD, with low to moderate likelihood of TC formation,” PAGASA said.

It added that TCLV 2 will likely enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

On the other hand, TCLV 3 may develop over the West Philippine Sea, with a “low chance” of developing into a tropical cyclone.—Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
