Habagat season has officially ended, says PAGASA
The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat season has officially ended, PAGASA said on Monday.
“Recent analyses showed a significant weakening of the Southwest Monsoon over the past few days,” said PAGASA.
“Moreover, the strengthening of the high-pressure system over East Asia has been observed ang gradually changed the weather patterns in the country.”
The start of the rainy season was officially declared by the state weather bureau in May.
With this development, state meteorologists also said that the Philippines is now transitioning to the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan season, “which may be apparent and declared in the coming weeks.”
Once the Amihan season begins, the northeasterly wind flow will be dominant in the country and will bring cold and dry air in the coming months. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA Integrated News
