PAGASA monitors LPA, tropical depression outside PAR


A low pressure area was observed 165 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan as of 3 p.m. Monday, as PAGASA monitors an active tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

According to the state weather bureau’s daily weather forecast, the tropical depression was last seen 2,600 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

The LPA is set to cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan, as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) brings cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over SOCCSKSARGEN and BARMM.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be observed over the rest of Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley due to the easterlies, while Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be seen over the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters may be expected nationwide.
