LPA, ITCZ, easterlies to bring rains over parts of PH

A low pressure area (LPA), Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country on Monday, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

The Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, and Batangas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA and ITCZ. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

The LPA was estimated to be located at 3 a.m. at 165 km west northwest of Coron, Palawan, embedded along the ITCZ which is affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA said.

"Maliit ang posibilidad nitong maging bagyo," GMA Weather Center presenter Anjo Pertierra said in a report on Unang Balita on Monday.

(The possibility of this LPA developing into a tropical depression is low.)

The Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly occur.

PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

At 3 a.m., it was located at 2,540 km east of Extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It was moving northward at 25 km/h.

"Sa ngayon mababa ang tsansa ng bagyo na pumasok sa PAR at wala rin itong direktong epekto sa bansa," Pertierra said.

(For now the possibility of the tropical depression to enter PAR is low and it also has no direct effect on the country.)

Coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
