Southwest Monsoon to bring rains over Northern Luzon


The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting Northern Luzon on Sunday and will bring rains over several areas, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the monsoon. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly lead to flash floods or landslides.

Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur.

The tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility which was named Igme while it was still inside PAR was located at 3 a.m. at 535 km north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. The tropical depression is moving westward at 15 km/h.

Coastal waters will be rough in the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon, and moderate to rough in the rest of Luzon.

Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate coastal waters.
