LPA east of Batanes now Tropical Depression Igme

LPA east of Batanes now Tropical Depression Igme

The low pressure area (LPA) east of Batanes has developed into a tropical depression and is now called Igme, according to state weather bureau PAGASA on Friday.

PAGASA said on Facebook that the weather disturbance developed into a tropical depression at 2 p.m.

“Tropical Cyclone Bulletins will be issued beginning at 5 p.m. today,” it added.

Igme is the fourth tropical cyclone that entered or developed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the last seven days, after Ferdie, Gener, and Helen.

Ferdie and Helen remained inside the PAR for a short period, while Gener exited the country after passing through several provinces in Luzon this week.

Ferdie, Gener, and Helen also enhanced the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), bringing rain to most parts of the country. —Joviland Rita/VBL, GMA Integrated News
