LPA moves closer to Batanes —PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) earlier spotted by PAGASA moved closer east of Batanes late Friday morning.

In a 10 a.m. update, PAGASA said the LPA was located 590 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes and moving northwest at 40 kilometers per hour.

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat and localized thunderstorms are expected to bring rains in different parts of the country on Friday, PAGASA said in its 24-hour public weather forecast.

Zambales and Bataan may experience monsoon rains and Ilocos Region with occasional rains.

Metro Manila, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and the rest of Luzon are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The rest of Visayas may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Mindanao may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
