4 provinces under Signal No. 1 as Gener traverses WPS

Four provinces remain under Signal Number 1 due to Tropical Depression Gener, which continues to move away from the Philippine landmass, according to PAGASA's 5 p.m. Tuesday bulletin.

These areas are Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and the western portion of Pangasinan (Sual, Burgos, Dasol, Mabini, Infanta, Labrador, City of Alaminos, Bani, Bolinao, Anda, and Agno).

At 4 p.m., Gener was located 235 kilometers west northwest of Baguio City or over the West Philippine Sea, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.

It was moving westward at 30 km/h.

PAGASA said Gener and Tropical Storm Pulasan, which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, would enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and bring strong to gale-force gusts across the country until Thursday.

Gener was forecast to exit the PAR on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

''Outside the PAR region, Gener will continue westward over the West Philippine Sea for the remainder of the forecast period. Gener is forecast to have limited intensification within the forecast period, although it may reach tropical storm category by tomorrow morning,'' PAGASA said. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
