Trough of TS Bebinca to affect Eastern Visayas, parts of Mindanao

The trough of Tropical Storm Bebinca will bring inclement weather over Eastern Visayas and parts of Mindanao, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA on Wednesday.

At 3 p.m., Bebinca was spotted 1,750 kilometers east northeast of Eastern Visayas, with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h and gustiness of up to 105 km/h.

It was moving northwestward at 20 km/h.

Once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the tropical storm will be called “Ferdie.”

Bebinca may enter PAR on Friday night, but the tropical storm is not expected to make landfall if it keeps heading northwest, PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

In its 4 p.m. forecast, PAGASA said Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region would see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms because of Bebinca's trough.

Similar weather conditions are expected over Palawan and Occidental Mindoro due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

The Habagat will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, the rest of MIMAROPA, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters will prevail throughout the country.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:45 a.m. on Thursday. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/VBL, GMA Integrated News
