Super Typhoon Yagi, Habagat continue to bring rains over Luzon

The trough of Super Typhoon Yagi (formerly Enteng) continues to affect parts of Extreme Northern Luzon as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) brings rains over the rest of Luzon.

According to PAGASA’s daily weather forecast on Thursday afternoon, the trough of Yagi will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

At 3 p.m., Yagi was spotted 595 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, with maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h and gusts of up to 240 km/h.

The Habagat will bring rains over Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Ilocos Region, and Central Luzon.

It will also cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Palawan, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides may occur as a result of these weather conditions.

Meanwhile, strong winds with rough waters may be experienced in the western section of Luzon.

The rest of Luzon will have moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough waters, while light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters will be observed in Visayas and Mindanao.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:44 a.m. on Friday.  — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
