Signal No. 2 up over 2 Luzon areas as Enteng re-intensifies over WPS
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 was raised over two areas in Luzon as Tropical Storm Enteng re-intensified while moving over the West Philippine Sea on Tuesday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said TCWS No. 2 was hoisted over the following areas:
- the western portion of Ilocos Norte (Badoc, Pinili, Currimao, Laoag City, Paoay, Bacarra, Pasuquin, San Nicolas, City of Batac, Burgos)
- the northern portion of Ilocos Sur (Sinait, Cabugao, San Juan, Magsingal, Santo Domingo, San Ildefonso, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, City of Vigan, Bantay, Santa, Caoayan).
Meanwhile, TCWS No. 1 was raised over the following areas:
- the rest of Ilocos Norte
- the rest of Ilocos Sur
- the northern portion of La Union (Luna, Santol, San Juan, Bagulin, Bangar, San Gabriel, Bacnotan, Sudipen, Balaoan, City of San Fernando)
- Apayao
- Kalinga
- Abra
- the western portion of Mountain Province (Besao, Tadian, Sagada, Bauko, Sadanga, Bontoc, Sabangan)
- the northern portion of Benguet (Mankayan, Kapangan, Kibungan, Bakun, Buguias)
- the western section of Cagayan (Tuao, Rizal, Abulug, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Claveria, Santa Praxedes) including Fuga and Dalupiri Islands.
Enteng was located 100 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte with maximum sustained winds of 85 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
The tropical storm was moving westward at 25 kph.
“Enteng will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning. Outside the PAR region, the tropical storm will move generally westward until Friday morning, then turn west northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period,” PAGASA said.
“Enteng is forecast to intensify throughout the forecast period and may reach severe tropical storm category in the next 12 hours, and typhoon category on Thursday. The tropical cyclone may reach its peak intensity by late Friday or early Saturday prior to making landfall in mainland China,” it added.
According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Tuesday, 13 people were reported dead due to the impact of Enteng.
Malacañang suspended both government work and classes in Metro Manila and Region IV-A. Several local government units also suspended classes in their respective areas.
Some flights were also canceled due to Enteng.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
