Signal No. 2 still up in 9 areas as Enteng may make landfall over Isabela, Cagayan

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is still raised over nine areas in Luzon as Tropical Storm Enteng is seen to make landfall over Isabela or Cagayan on Monday afternoon or evening, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said TCWS Signal No. 2 was raised over the following areas:

  • the northern portion of Ilocos Norte, 
  • Apayao
  • the eastern portion of Kalinga (Rizal, Pinukpuk, City of Tabuk)
  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
  • Isabela
  • Quirino
  • the northern portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dilasag, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, Baler)
  • Polillo Islands
  • the northern portion of Camarines Norte (Santa Elena, Capalonga, Jose Panganiban, Paracale, Vinzons)

Meanwhile, TCWS No. 1 was hoisted over the following areas:

  • Batanes
  • the rest of Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • La Union
  • the eastern portion of Pangasinan (Rosales, Asingan, Binalonan, Sison, San Manuel, Santa Maria, Balungao, San Quintin, Tayug, Umingan, Natividad, San Nicolas)
  • Abra
  • the rest of Kalinga
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • Benguet
  • Nueva Vizcaya 
  • the rest of Aurora 
  • Nueva Ecija
  • the eastern portion of Pampanga (Candaba)

Enteng was located 115 kilometers northeast of Infanta, Quezon or 85 km east southeast of Baler, Aurora, moving north northwestward at 15 km per hour.

The tropical cyclone was packing  maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, according to PAGASA.

“ENTENG is forecast to make landfall over Isabela or Cagayan this afternoon or evening, although a landfall over northern Aurora is not ruled out at this time,” PAGASA said.

“ENTENG is forecast to maintain tropical storm category until Tuesday during its traverse of mainland Northern Luzon. Further intensification is forecast to occur from Wednesday onwards, with ENTENG reaching severe tropical storm category on Wednesday and typhoon category on Friday,” it added.

Two people were reported dead and 10 others were reported injured in Central Visayas due to the impact of Enteng, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

Classes have been suspended in some Luzon and Visayas areas due to Enteng. In Metro Manila, which was under TCWS No. 1, government work was also suspended.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
