Eastern Samar, 4 other areas under red rainfall warning
PAGASA issued a red rainfall warning over Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, and parts of Cebu on Sunday afternoon, warning of serious flooding and landslides in areas susceptible to these hazards.
The areas in Cebu included in the 2 p.m. red rainfall warning are Tudela, Tuburan, Tabuelan, Tabogon, Sogod, Santa Fe, San Remigio, San Francisco, Poro, Pilar, Medellin, Madridejos, Danao City, Daanbantayan, Catmon, Carmen, Borbon, Bogo City, Bantayan, Asturias.
The red rainfall warning is the highest warning as rains amounting to 30 mm or more may be felt in an hour, which is expected to continue in the next two hours.
Residents in areas that have low elevation, such as coastal towns and cities, are advised to evacuate immediately.
PAGASA also raised an orange rainfall warning at 2 p.m. over the following areas:
- parts of Cebu: Balamban, Cebu City, Compostela, Liloan, Consolacion, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Cordova, Talisay City, Minglanilla, Toledo City, Pinamungahan, Naga City, San Fernando, Aloguinsan, Carcar); and
- parts of Southern Leyte (Tomas Oppus, Sogod, Silago, San Ricardo, San Juan, San Francisco, Saint Bernard, Pintuyan, Padre Burgos, Malitbog, Macrohon, Maasin City, Limasawa, Liloan, Libagon, Hinundayan, Hinunangan, Bontoc, Anahawan).
Areas under orange rainfall warning are alerted as flooding is threatening in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.
A yellow rainfall warning was also hoisted at 2 p.m. over:
- Bohol;
- Siquijor;
- Negros Oriental; and
- Cebu (Barili, Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, Moalboal, Badian, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob).
Flooding is possible in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas in the above-mentioned places.
Meanwhile, PAGASA also raised a yellow rainfall warning at 2 p.m. over Iloilo (Carles, Balasan, Estancia, Batad) and Pilar in Capiz.
These areas may possibly have flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.
PAGASA said it issued the rainfall warnings due to Tropical Depression Enteng and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
It advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned to take the appropriate actions, monitor the weather condition, and await the next advisory to be issued at 5 p.m. —KG, GMA Integrated News
