Habagat to bring heavy, intense rains over Occidental Mindoro, 3 other areas


Heavy to intense rains measuring 100 to 200 mm are expected over Occidental Mindoro, northern Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands, Antique, and Negros Occidental on Sunday due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains measuring 50 to 100 mm may possibly be experienced in Oriental Mindoro, Central Visayas, the rest of Palawan, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region, the weather bureau said in its 11 a.m. advisory.

On Monday, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, northern Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands, Antique, and Negros Occidental will have heavy to intense rains measuring 100 to 200 mm.

Zambales, Bataan, and the rest of MIMAROPA and Western Visayas will then have moderate to heavy rains of 50 to 100 mm.

The rainfall outlook for Tuesday, on the other hand is as follows:

  • heavy to intense rains (100-200 mm): Zambales, Bataan
  • moderate to heavy rains (50-100 mm): Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and the northern portion of Palawan.

 

PAGASA said flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely especially in areas highly or very highly susceptible to such hazards and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall.

The weather bureau advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to take the necessary measures to protect life and property. —KG, GMA Integrated News
