Heavy to intense rains expected over Masbate, 5 other areas due to LPA
A low pressure area may bring heavy to intense rains over Masbate, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, and Biliran on Sunday, according to weather bureau PAGASA.
These areas may also expect cloudy skies along with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms.
Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Quezon, and the rest of Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Bicol Region are also affected by the LPA and will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rains may possibly lead to flash floods or landslides.
At 3 a.m. on Sunday, the LPA was estimated to be located at 175 km east northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar or 205 km East of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
"Nananatiling mataas ang tsansa na maging ganap na bagyo ang LPA within the next 24 to 48 hours," PAGASA weather specialist Dan Villamil said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.
(The chance of this LPA becoming a tropical depression within the next 24 to 48 hours remains high.)
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
MIMAROPA, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the monsoon. Moderate to heavy rains are also forecast, which may result in flash floods or landslides.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly occur.
Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
