LPA to bring cloudy skies, scattered rain over parts of Visayas, Mindanao

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) located east of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Saturday, PAGASA said in its forecast.

The LPA was estimated to be located at 3 a.m. at 695 kilometers east of Butuan City.

Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, SOCCSKSARGEN, Central Visayas, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Eastern Samar will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring due to moderate to heavy rains.

"Mataas ang tsansa na ito ay magiging bagyo within the next 24 hours," PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said in an interview on Dobol B TV.

(The chances of this [LPA] becoming a tropical depression within the next 24 hours is high.)

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain over the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas.

Palawan and the rest of Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the Southwest Monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon and Visayas is light to moderate moving in the southwest to south direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Mindanao will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the southwest to west direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
