Typhoon Shanshan won't affect PH - PAGASA

Typhoon Shanshan, which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), will not affect any part of the Philippines, the state weather bureau PAGASA said on Saturday afternoon.

With maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h and gustiness of up to 150 km/h, Shanshan was spotted 1,980 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon at 3 p.m.

Shanshan was forecast to move northward at 30 km/h.

In an update, PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said that the typhoon was too far from the Philippine mainland and was not expected to reach the PAR.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM, while localized thunderstorms may cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters may be experienced all over the Philippines.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:43 a.m. on Sunday. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
