Habagat to bring cloudy skies, rains over Central, Southern Luzon, Visayas

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Central, Southern Luzon and the VIsayas on Wednesday, PAGASA reported.

The weather bureau is monitoring a Low Pressure Area (LPA) estimated at 575 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes but it will have no significant effect.

PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It is located 2,005 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour, gustiness of up to 70 kph and is almost stationary.

PAGASA said this tropical depression has a low chance of entering PAR since it is forecast to head toward Japan. The weather bureau also said this tropical depression is not enhancing the Southwest Monsoon.

Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan meanwhile will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Visayas, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, and the rest of Mimaropa will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur during severe thunderstorms.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for northern Luzon is light to moderate moving in the southwest to west direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds moving in the south to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
